The `NBT 2013 Chinese New Year (CNY) of the Snake' giant display in Gadong will be launched and lit to its full glory tonight at 8pm.
According to NBT's Managing Director Ninan Chacko, the display is a way for NBT to express the company's appreciation to the people of Brunei Darussalam for their staunch support that has made NBT the country's number one automotive distributor for the last 31 consecutive years. It was also to wish the Chinese community a very happy and prosperous Chinese Lunar New Year 2013.
"We are very pleased to join the Chinese community to usher in the very auspicious Year of the Snake by livening up and enhancing the festive atmosphere during the upcoming CNY celebrations," he explained.
Touching on the theme and unique features of this year's display, he disclosed that the theme this year is 'Good Fortune, Health & Wealth with the Coming of Spring'. This is symbolised by the many auspicious festive sayings and wishes, as well as the large number of gold coins and ingots peppered across the sprawling display, signifying prosperity for all.
"So, please bring your families, relatives and friends down to NBT, to properly soak in this season's festive atmosphere. All are welcome. And please, do not forget to bring your camera phones, tablets and cameras," he said.
He also said that due to safety concerns, visitors to NBT's festive displays, will from now onwards, no longer be allowed to climb up to the upper platforms. However, the lower platform for photogaphy purposes is still accessible.
"As much as we like to give visitors more picture-taking opportunities, concern for public safety, nevertheless, has to prevail. We therefore seek everybody's understanding and cooperation in this important matter," he further explained.
Lights will be switched off at 11pm daily and at 12 midnight on the eve of public holidays, to conserve energy usage, as this is line with NBT's corporate green philosophy and to comply with their international IS014001 Environment Management System Standards certification.
