Bandar Seri Begawan - A call was made for the government to finally introduce a minimum wage policy to ensure that workers in both the government and private sectors earn enough to cover their expenses.

Legislative Council member, YB Awang Haji Mohd Yusof bin Haji Dulamin during the 9th LegCo meeting yesterday put the notion forward, specifically mentioning those who are daily paid along with those working in the private sector.

"The introduction of minimum wage," he said, "will provide individuals with the support to shoulder their cost of living". He pointed out that the difference in salaries is evident when comparisons among companies are made, stressing that such move should be made as a guideline especially for the private sector.
