Land Transport Department Introduces New SPD System

Bandar Seri Begawan - A roadshow introducing Brunei Darussalam's new driver's licence, motor vehicle licence and vehicle registration book was held yesterday at the Land Transport Department (LTD) of the Ministry of Communications in Kg Sungai Akar.

Present as the guest of honour was Awang Abdul Mutalib bin POKSS DP Haji Mohd Yusof, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications. Also present was Pengiran Haji Mohd Zain bin Pengiran Haji Abd Razak, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications.

In his welcoming remark, Awang Abdul Mutalib highlighted that the three factors that were introduced was one of the vital products within the Land Transport System (SPD) to replace the old system. He hoped that the newly introduced SPD is of high quality and secured.

Furthermore, he stated that prior to the introduction of the latest SPD products, LTD had undertaken several key measures to ensure that the products could be easily implemented especially with the online registration and payments, as well as delivery of products via postal services.

"Challenges will (arise from) the implementation of the new format of SPD products in term of its technical support, application of handling process, human resources and the capabilities of the SPD system. Therefore, it is hoped that all parties will be supportive and cooperative with the implementation of the new SPD format."

The LTD will be holding a series of roadshows to all districts in Brunei for the benefit of the public to be familiar with the products.

Several briefings were presented during the event, which were related to safety as well as the postal services by the Postal Service Department.

There was also a talk presented by Awang Haji Rozali bin Haji Saidon, Acting Deputy Director of LTD, as well as a demonstration on how to handle the e-Darussalam registration.
