Bandar Seri Begawan - A 38-year-old Kenyan woman was produced before the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday under Section 22A of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
This procedure allows for the suspect under the Misuse of Drugs Act to be detained further without having to face charges.
DPP Atiyyah PD Hj Abas applied for Caroline Awour Omenda to be remanded at the Central Police Station while further investigations are carried out.
Senior Magistrate Pengiran Masni Pengiran Hj Bahar made the order and fixed further mention of the case on November 8.
Omenda was arrested two days ago at the Brunei International Airport (BIA) in Berakas when airport authorities found about four kilogrammes of crystalline substances, believed to be methylamphetamine, hidden in the linings of her luggage.
Omenda flew from Singapore and arrived in Brunei at about 4pm as a transit passenger headed to Kota Kinabalu.
In March this year, a foreign woman was caught with over four kilos of Syabu at the Brunei International Airport.

Last September, a Kenyan woman was caught with over 3.67kg of Syabu at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport as she arrived on board a Royal Brunei Airlines flight from Brunei.
