Jerudong - Jerudong International School yesterday held its annual Careers Carousel with over 40 outside speakers presenting and discussing their careers with students who are presently studying for the International Baccalaureate, A levels and I/ GCSE examinations from Years 11,12 and 13 - over 500 students, a press release stated.
All students attended two talks on different careers, each presented by experts in their field. Law, architecture, banking, engineering, business, armed forces, medicine and other healthcare specialist were just a few of the careers to be featured during the 'Career Carousel' yesterday.
Mrs Yvette Conway, Careers Advisor at JIS said, "JIS is delighted and extremely grateful to the wide range of speakers from the local community who took their valuable time to come and invest in our students' futures. An event like today could not happen without their generosity."
Each talk included a "question and answer" session, where students were given the opportunity to question the speakers and to investigate aspects of careers that often aren't found in textbooks.
The talk with the various high-profile speakers yesterday provided students with the opportunity to acquire a wealth of information about their possible chosen career as well as other fields.
It also gave students the opportunity to network with the professionals in order to organise a possible work placement after their examinations.
This event is just one of the ways in which JIS strives to prepare its students for the world of higher education and a career.
