Bandar Seri Begawan - A friend trusted to take care of a father's family and lived with them, had unlawful carnal knowledge with the latter's 16-year-old-daughter at the family home.

The 29-year-old local man pleaded guilty to the offence earlier this week before the

Bandar Magistrate's Court and was sentenced to imprisonment for two years and six months with six strokes of the cane.

DPP Norjauinah Hj Kula informed the court that the offence was committed at 2am on May 30, 2012.

Eventually, the victim's siblings came to know about it and reported the matter to the police.
