Bandar Seri Begawan - Dayang Era Aniza binti Muhd Zainuddin left Brunei last night to represent the Sultanate in the seventh 'Hasyimiah Government International Competition in Memorising, Reading and Interpreting Al-Quran for Girls', which is scheduled to commence on June 2 in the Jordanian capital of Amman.
The student is accompanied by Dayang Hjh Mahyana binti PSRKDPSS Haji Yahya in her capacity as the head of the small delegation, which also includes coach Ustazah Hajah Jariah @ Hajah Aleya Fatehah binti Haji Japan
Dayang Era Aniza of Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (ITQSHHB) overcame competition from her peers at school during the selection process in order to secure the winning votes of approval for her maiden appearance in the international arena.
Participation in the competition also marks the sixth time that Brunei has sent a representative to a competition where Brunei qaris/qariahs had recorded their best finishes with fourth place standings in 2007 and 2008. The competition only announces the top five contestants.
The delegation will return to Brunei on June 9.
