Indonesian Man Fined $1,000 For Leaving & Re-Entering Country Without Passport

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 36-year-old Indonesian man was sentenced to $500 fine or in default serve two weeks' jail on each of the two charges he pleaded guilty to failing to produce passport on leaving and re-entering Brunei Darussalam.

Adi Eko Wahyudi works as a truck driver for a local company and frequently transports gravel between Limbang and Brunei Darussalam.

On March 17, 2012, the defendant did not produce his passport upon leaving the country.

He was caught the next day on reentering the Sultanate also without producing his passport.

The court acknowledged the defendant's valid employment pass. The defendant has settled $500 of the $1,000 fine and was given by the court a week's time to settle the remaining amount.
