Kuala Belait - The Indian Association of Belait district (IAB) recently hosted 'festival of lights' in an annual Deepavali dinner celebration known as 'IAB Deepavali Night 2012' at the Convention Hall in Kuala Belait.

The High Commissioner of India to Brunei Darussalam, Mr Lalduhthlana Ralte and spouse were present as guests of honour.

The ceremony was initiated with 'Lighting of the Lamp', which signifies the triumph of good over evil, followed by cultural programmes showcasing colourful and lively performances comprising female semi-classical, children's cinematic performance, the 'Bharathanatyam' - a classical South Indian item and children's fusion Bhangra performance, among other culturally rich items.

The festival was attended by hundreds of members of the local Indian community and expatriates working in various industries in the Belait district.
