Bandar Seri Begawan - Leading an assembly of more than 20,000 people to recite the pledge of loyalty to our benevolent ruler, religion and nation for the 29th National Day Parade, Mohammad Ghani Awang Ahmad enthusiastically revealed that his spirit of patriotism was high with the presence of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang DiPertuan of Brunei Darussalam at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien yesterday.
The 28-year-old Mathematics teacher from Rimba II Secondary School said, "Of course I felt nervous but with our beloved ruler watching and listening to the pledge, it lifted my spirit and encouraged me to perform at my very best. I feel glad and honoured to be bestowed this once-in-a lifetime opportunity."
Mohammad Ghani was the main pledge reader among the 29 individuals selected from various government organisations for the pledge recital.
He considers himself lucky to be selected out of the hundreds nominated for the huge task.
Before leaving the ceremony, His Majesty consented to greet the pledge readers including Mohammad Ghani. He was given a commendation for a job well done from the monarch as the main pledge reader. "To receive a compliment from His Majesty is such an honour and it makes me feel proud of myself," he said.--Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
