Tutong - Heavy rainfall yesterday morning caused a landslide at a section of the main road in front of the Up-It Minimart in Kg Kebia, Tutong.
An excavator was deployed to clear the mud, which came from the nearby old sand quarry. Contractors were seen busy removing the mud from the road to ensure safety for road users.
"The landslide occurred very quickly during the heavy rainfall. This caused the drainage to be blocked and parts of the road were covered in mud causing road users to drive slowly to avoid mishaps," said a villager who lives near the affected area.
"Several nearby houses were also affected as mud flooded inside. One of our neighbours even asked for cleanup assistance from the Lamunin Fire Station."
The villagers hope the relevant authorities will provide a solution to prevent any future landslide from happening as the condition has become much worse due to the quarry still being in operation until now.
They also hope the authorities will improve the drainage of the affected areas to prevent it from being clogged in the future.
