Guards Jailed For Theft

brunei-high-courtBandar Seri Begawan - A two-men bicycle patrol team from Security Raven Guard who stole mobile phones and a wallet from a colleague's car while on patrol duty in Panaga, Seria, have both been sentenced to jail and caning.

Senior Magistrate Haji Nabil Daraina PD Hj Badaruddin heard that Mohd Amirul Aliff bin All and Mohd Omardin bin Md Tahir were on duty that night, as was their victim who had carpooled together with the defendants.

Security Raven guards are not allowed to bring their mobile phones to work so the victim left his mobile phones along with his wallet in the carhe cane in.

Whilst on patrol, each of the defendants took turns in stealing their colleague's wallet and mobile phones.

Mohd Amirul wrapped the two mobile phones in a hat and kept it inside the car bonnet. He intended to sell the mobile phones.

Mohd Omardin wanted to dispose the wallet and caused wrongful damage by burning it and disposing it.

Mohd Amirul received a two-month jail sentence, while Mohd Omardin received a sentence of two months' imprisonment and a stroke of the cane.

DPP Dk Didi Pg Latiff prosecuted the case.
