Bandar Seri Begawan - Muslims in the country are urged to avoid and not to consume corned beef of Greatwall brand from China as it is contaminated with pork DNA.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs informed the public especially Muslims in the country that the Greatwall corned beef brand from China and manufactured by North International Holding Tianjin Foodstuffs Import and Export Company which is labelled Halal and distributed in the country is in fact contaminated with pork DNA.

The finding was made based on analysis made by the Halal Science Centre of the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources and the Scientific Services Department of the Ministry of Health.

In this context; the Ministry of Religious Affairs has urged importers and retailers to recall the product from the market. Muslims in possession of the product should not consume it and avoid the product.
