Kuala Belait - Several areas in the Belait District including Seria experienced flash floods due to continuous showers which started on Wednesday midnight and lasted until early morning yesterday.

Some of the affected areas are Jalan Tengah and STKRJ Lorong 3 in Seria.

The flood has caused slow moving traffic and at the barrack housing area in Lorong 3, the water level almost entered the houses.

Emergency services comprising police and fire rescue personnel can be seen conducting patrol at the area to ensure the safety of road users.

Meanwhile, similar flooding is also reported at Sungai Mau Village.

The road leading to the Pengkalan Sungai Mau was submerged due to the heavy rain and high tide. Fortunately, there was no damage on property as the villagers had prepared for the flooding.

A Sungai Mau Village resident said "The flood will be higher during high tide. Fortunately, the nearby Labi Road had been upgraded so it is not affected by the flood."

In relation to the flooding, members of the public especially those who are living in the low-lying area are advised to prepare themselves. For emergency assistance during flash floods, people are advised to contact the Brunei Fire and Rescue Department (BFRD) on their hotline at 995 and Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) at 993.
