Bandar Seri Begawan - A flag handover ceremony was held to mark the participation of a delegation from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) in the 7th Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Memorising Al-Quran Award for Military Officers in Saudi Arabia prior to their departure at the Brunei International Airport last night.
Present during the send-off was the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, who handed over the national flag to 296 Lt Col Pg Haji Hafiz bin Pg Haji Kamaluddin as the head of the delegation.
The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a Doa accorded to bless the delegation's journey by 814 Lt Narulismandy bin Haji Samaih, Training Officer of the RBAF Religious Department.
863 Lt Mujib bin Japar, an officer from the RBAF Religious Department will represent the RBAF and the nation in the memorisation of five juzuks category in the competition. Also joining as part of the delegation is Ustaz Haji Mohammad Aliman bin Haji Salim Al-Hafiz, an Al-Quran teacher from Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
The RBAF, who has been active in the competition, hopes to disseminate the teaching of Islam through the recitation and memorisation of Al-Quran among the Royal Brunei Armed Forces' community.
The delegation is expected to return on March 10.
