Filming Of 'Jasmine - The Final Fist' To Begin Tomorrow

Bandar Seri Begawan - The much-anticipated Bruneian film 'Yasmine - The Final Fist' will start filming in the country tomorrow (March 24) after the movie was officially launched by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Yahya, the Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, at the iCentre in Berakas yesterday.

'Yasmine - The Final Fist', a ground-breaking film by Origin Films Sdn Bhd, is going to be directed by Brunei's first female director, Siti Kamaluddin.

The film will also feature collaborations from Hong Kong's renowned action director Chan Man Ching and Indonesian screenwriter Salmi Aristo to bring fans an inspiring action drama about a young girl's dream of becoming a Silat champion.

A strong international cast has been confirmed, including Reza Rahadian, Agus Kuncoro, Roy Sungkono and Mentari De Marelle from Indonesia; Aryl Falak and Nabila Huda from Malaysia

The film will include special appearances by Dato' M Nasir, Dian P Ramlee, Carmen Soo Wincci, Miau Miau and Maharasyi Hanza, as well as Brunei's local talents such as Nadiah Wahid and Jazz Hayat.

The film's producer, Din Kamaluddin of Origin Films, expressed his confidence that the "right people" had been selected for this project to achieve their vision of supporting local talents.

"It has been a wonderful journey so far for Origin Films. However, this is just the beginning, we still have a long way to go," he said.

The director of the film, Siti Kamaluddin, meanwhile, extended her thanks to various government agencies and private bodies for their support in making the film a successful project. She looks forward to working with the talent international cast and crew from China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei over the next 45 days (1080 hours) while filming in the Sultanate.

The director explained that the film initially started off with the name Yasmine, which is a small beautiful flower, almost unassuming. However, she said, the flower leaves an ever-lasting impression which has become Siti's inspiration for the film.

"I believe that all of us follow a. certain path in life, but this journey that we are embarking on in making this extremely ambitious film is defiantly the path I have chosen as the director of the movie she said.

With principal photography due to begin soon, "Yasmine - The Final Fist" is expected to be released in 2014.
