Tutong - Awg Linggan bin Tangguan and his wile, Sarines binti Laut and their six children have recently embraced Islam during a ceremony held at No 5, Kampong Melaboi Bukit in the Tutong District.
According to a press statement from the Ministry of Defence, the guests of honour for the event were the Deputy Minister of Defence, Dato Paduka Awg Hj Mustappa bin Hj Sirat and the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Pg Dato Paduka Hj Bahrom bin Pg Hj Bahar.
The ceremony was carried out by the officers of the Dakwah Section in Tutong District.
Awg Linggan bin Tangguan is now known as Muhammad Alim Fahmi bin Abdullah Tanggua whereas his wife is now Nur Fazrina Hanisah binti Abdullah Laut. Their children have also chosen their respective Muslim names.
Also present at the event were Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Permanent Secretaries and Senior Officials from the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Islamic Dakwah Centre as well as family and friends.
