Bandar Seri Begawan - A total of 35 underprivileged individuals and families from the vicinity of Mukim Gadong yesterday received their allotment of sacrificial meat in a ceremony organised by the Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in cooperation with the Muslimah group of Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah.
Held at the multipurpose hall of the mosque, the ceremony, an annual project, saw the participation of 196 generous individuals. A total of 28 cattle and buffaloes were slaughtered to commemorate the celebration of Hari Raya Aidiladha.
On hand to distribute the sacrificial meat was Deputy Minister of Finance at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Dato Paduka Awang Haji Bahrin bin Abdullah.
The auspicious ceremony began with a surah alfatihah recitation and was later followed by welcoming remarks delivered by Ustaz Haris bin Haji Subuh, the chairman of the organising committee.
The day also saw the guest of honour presenting certificates of appreciation to 12 recipients who have, over the last 15 years, been members of the organising committee for the sacrificial ceremony.
Also present at the ceremony were the permanent and deputy permanent secretaries, senior officers at the Ministry of Finance, the director of the Mosques Affairs Department, Penghulu Mukim Gadong 'B' as well as the village head of Kampong Kiarong.
