Energy Graduates In Spotlight

Bandar Seri Begawan - After the introduction of a new programme - Master of Science in Energy Studies in January 2011 under the Faculty of Science, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, the first two batches of the students finally received their scrolls from His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam 24th Convocation ceremony yesterday.

Out of the eight energy graduates, one is already serving the government as an Administrative Officer at the Department of Public Services; three are absorbed as

apprentices at the Brunei Shell Petroleum Company (BSP); one under the Brunei Liquefied Natural Gas (BLNG); two have proceeded to undertake their PhDs on 'Solar Energy Modelling' and 'Power System' respectively while another one is looking after a family business.

Under the one-year programme, the graduates were immersed with the technical details of renewable energy sources together with its extraction and conversion processes; operations of power systems; material science as well as matters concerning energy and environmental management among others.
