Bandar Seri Begawan - Twenty-seven Year 5 pupils from Teck Whye Primary School, Singapore are currently in the country for a five-day educational visit and trip. The delegation was accompanied by six teachers led by Cikgu Intan Salwah bte Badiuzzaman.
According to the teacher, the aim of the educational visit is to introduce Singapore students to Brunei Darussalam and to do research on the language and Brunei Malay culture as well as traditions.
Yesterday afternoon the delegation visited Language and Literature Bureau (Library Section) in the capital. They visited Children, Adult and Adolescent Lending Services and was briefed by Dk Hjh Masdiana bind Pg Hj Damit, Assistant Library Officer II on the function and role of the library. The students also had the opportunity to participate in a quiz.
In the morning the delegation toured Datu Ratna Haji Muhammad Jaafar Primary School, Kiarong, Brunei III. They were presented by mini exhibitions and demonstrations on traditional games, making "kelupis/Lepat", traditional wedding and traditional food/cakes. There was also stage performance and choir from Pre-school and Year 4 & 5 schoolchildren. The visit ended with the exchange of souvenirs.
According to staff of Freme Travel Services Sdn Bhd, the delegation's itinerary included the Oil and Gas Discovery Center (OGDC) in Seria, a sago factory in Tutong District, Pintu Malim Primary School in Kota Batu, as well as Museum and Arts and Handicrafts Center in the capital.
The delegation will leave the country on September 4.
