Bandar Seri Begawan - A young woman of ethnic Dusun descent, aged 19, embraced Islam as her religion, and is the first to do so in her family, during a conversion ceremony at Kampong Perpindahan Lambak Kanan.
Norainah binti Jeffrah is now known as Nurul Ainah binti Abdullah Jeffrah.
During an interview with the Bulletin, she said that she was grateful to be able to fulfil her wish since high school, which is to convert to Islam.
"Alhamdulillah, I have embraced Islam as my religion, and Insyallah, I will try my best to fully practice the religion and be a better person. May Allah the Almighty guide me in doing what is right. Now, I am proud to say that I am a Muslim," she said.
"My willingness to convert to Islam came from within. The congregational prayer and the call for prayer (azan) has brought me inner peace and confidence in Islam. I just felt like Islam was best for me," she added.
The ceremony was facilitated by officials from the Islamic Dakwah Centre. It was also enlivened with a Dikir Marhaban and concluded with a Doa Selamat.
