Bandar Seri Begawan - A 38-year-old Kenyan woman facing the death penalty for allegations of being a drug mule was produced before the Magistrate's Court in the capital yesterday to get her remand period extended for another two weeks pending an analyst certificate on the alleged drugs.
Senior Magistrate Pg Masni Pg Hj Bahar reminded again that the analyst certificate be expedited as was in the last mention of the case.
Caroline Awour Omenda is facing a charge of importing 4.14 kilogrammes of clear crystalline substances into the country from Singapore at the Brunei International Airport on October 24, 2012.
The court granted Prosecuting Officer Yvonne Lim's application and fixed the date January 17, 2013 for further mention of the case.
Omenda was arrested on October 24, 2012 at the Brunei International Airport, Berakas when airport authorities found four kilogrammes of crystalline substances, believed to be methylamphetamine, hidden in the linings of her luggage.
Omenda flew from Singapore and arrived here at about 4pm that day for a transit to Kota Kinabalu.
