Bandar Seri Begawan - For three consecutive days, September 27-29, the Narcotics Control Bureau through the Preventive Drug Education (PDE) Division has taken another step in spreading awareness, especially in matters relating to international drug syndicates.
At the Brunei International Airport, Berakas, specially-designed luggage tags embossed with strong anti-drug messages were handed out by the PDE officers to passengers.
Students and youths are seen as the nation's asset. It is also at this age that they tend to be more vulnerable and easily influenced to become a victim or a 'drug courier'.
The issue of international drug syndicates has become one of the nation's concerns. When an individual becomes a 'courier' for a drug syndicate, he/she will face heavy punishment if proven guilty, even if they claim that they were just victims.
The Narcotics Control Bureau through the PDE Division will continuously educate and spread awareness of the dangers of drugs to all levels of the community in line with the bureau's vision 'A' drug-free community a partner for national security".
