Bandar Seri Begawan - Customs enforcement personnel on Tuesday evening confiscated contraband comprising alcohol and cigarettes in a house at the Kg Lambak Kanan National Housing Scheme.

Thirteen enforcement officers from the Royal Customs and Excise Department in a raid seized 28 cartons and five packs of cigarettes with no Ministry of Health warning displays as well as 26 bottles and five cans of alcohol.

It is believed that the contraband was not for personal use but for sale to the general public.

Three local men between the age of 40 and 70 have been detained and will be charged under Excise Order 2006.

The Royal Customs and Excise Department continues to inform the public to provide information to the department in regard to any smuggling activity by contacting the department at 8714422 or 2382422.
