Bandar Seri Begawan - Creative writing and works of fiction can be a source of inspiration to the creation of new technologies, which in turn contributes to the development of the nation.
This was emphasised by Hjh Aminah binti Hj Momin, the Director of the Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) in yesterday's Memorandum of Agreement signing ceremony, held in Berakas.
She said, "I encourage authors, especially creative writers to produce works of fiction that are more challenging in the future, as science fiction and technology are given less attention by authors in the Sultanate."
"Intelligent authors will develop his or her creativity to be explored by the reader. In developed countries, this genre has become a source of inspiration to the creation of new technology that benefits humans.
"There are a lot of materials that can be used in the Sultanate as a source of inspiration and ideas in writing work of science fiction and technology without losing sight of the values and philosophy of the MIB and Zikir Nation" she added.
In an effort to broaden the scope of publications that are related to science and technology, economics, administration, health, religion, language, literature, education, archaeology, history, forestry, fisheries and agriculture, Hjh Aminah welcomes any relevant theses to be published as it is more beneficial to be issued for general reading and a source, of scholarly references rather than being stored only in libraries or in private collections.
