Court Adjourns Case Of Alleged Chicken Wings Smuggler

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 42-year-old local man who denied smuggling vast amounts of cigarettes and packets of chicken wings, as well as an attempt to smuggle fuel out of the country, was produced before the courts yesterday.

Senior Magistrate Muhammad Faisal PD Hj Kefli yesterday adjourned the case to January 17, 2013 to have trial dates fixed before the Chief Magistrate Hj Abdullah Soefri PD Hj Abidin.

Wasman bin Hj Masbah denied a first count of possession of three packets and 13 sticks of cigarettes in a boat in the vicinity of Sungai Butir on March 31, 2011.

The second charge alleges the defendant of avoiding detection and trying to smuggle out 42 litres of Regular gasoline in two jerrycans on a powered-boat in the vicinity of Terusan Sungai Kupang on September 29, 2012.

The third charge suggests the defendant had in his possession 58 cartons of cigarettes in his vehicle in the vicinity of Jalan Putat on October 26, 2012.

The fourth allegation states the defendant had possession of 67 cartons of cigarettes in a powered-boat at the vicinity of Sungai Riong on December 22, 2012.

The fifth count alleges the defendant of possession of two packets of Danpo chicken wings at Sungai Riong on December 22, 2012.

DPP Shahyzul Pg Abd Rahman yesterday informed the court that subsequently the case will be handled by another Deputy Public Prosecutor.
