Company Fined Over Improper Public Garbage Disposal

Kuala Belait - The Enforcement Section of Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board Kuala Belait and Seria has imposed a compound on a company due to the violation of rules following improper garbage disposal in public areas.

The company was fined $500 after the respective person was found leaving containers such as boxes, bottles and other objects after emptying their restaurant in one of the shopping complexes in Pandan 7, Kuala Belait.

According to the report by the Enforcement Section, the offence was committed on March 2, and it is an offence under the Minor Offences Act Chapter 30 Chapter 12 (1) (e) littering in public places.

The department further said that if the company concerned failed to clarify the fine imposed, it will be resolved through court action, and if convicted, a fine of $1,000 will be imposed for the first offence and the following offences will be a fine of $3,000 and imprisonment not exceeding three months.

In regards of the case, the department reminded the public and companies that they are to throw garbage at the place designated for the purpose to help keep the environment clean.
