Cheering Competition For SCB Half-Marathon Brunei 2013

Bandar Seri Begawan - Following positive feedback from last year's Standard Chartered Half-Marathon Brunei participants on how they were motivated by spectators who cheered them on along parts of the route, SCB has created a cheering competition to be held in conjunction with the Standard Chartered Half-Marathon Brunei 2013.

The competition is open to those 16 to 60 years of age, and each team should comprise of at least three individuals with a maximum of eight. Interested parties can register by completing a registration form at www.SCBruneiHalfMarathon.com. The deadline for registration is March 15, and a maximum of 10 teams will be shortlisted to cheer participants on during the race day - Sunday, April 7. The participants will vote for the winning team at the end of the event. "Many runners last year told us how motivated they were by our volunteers and spectators who cheered them on. Hence, the introduction of a cheering competition this year as another great opportunity for more families and friends to get directly involved with the Standard Chartered Half-Marathon Brunei 2013," said SCB Head of Corporate Affairs and Marketing, Jennifer Kang.

Shortlisted teams will be selected based on their creativity and their reasons to cheer. Meanwhile, all teams are to incorporate the words 'Standard Chartered Brunei,' Here for good' and 'Run for a Reason' into their cheers and come creatively dressed in Blue and Green.

The top three teams with the most votes will walk away with prizes: The first prize is $500 and individual gift packs for each team member; second prize is $300 and individual gift packs for each team member, while the third prize is $200 and individual gift packs for each team member.

The Standard Chartered Brunei Half-Marathon 2013 is proudly sponsored by official sponsor - Great Eastern Life alongside official partners - GetFit CrossFit, Mixmediaworx, New Balance, Radisson Hotel, Royal Brunei Airlines, Soleus, Suci, Sunlit Advertising, 100 Plus, Borneo Bulletin and Media Permata.

This event is also strongly supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and sanctioned by the Brunei Athletics Association. ThreeG Media Sdn Bhd is also a supporter.

The deadline to register for the Standard Chartered Half-Marathon Brunei 2013 is March 17, or when the maximum capacities are reached. Interested individuals are encouraged to sign up before this date to avoid disappointment of limited spaces. Categories are capped at 600 participants for the 21km category; 2,000 participants for the 10km category; 2,000 participants for the 5km run; and 1,400 participants for the 2.5km category.

All of the proceeds raised for the run will benefit Learning Ladders, SMARTER Brunei and Standard Chartered Bank's Seeing Is Believing Programme.
