Bandar Seri Begawan - Members of the public can lend a helping hand in giving hearing impaired children an ability to listen by visiting and spending time at the 'Better Hearing, Better Living' Charity Bazaar which was launched yesterday at The Mall. The bazaar is aimed at raising fund to purchase hearing aids for school children with hearing impaired.
The three-day 'Better Hearing, Better Living' Charity Bazaar which will end tomorrow was officially launched by Datin Paduka Hajah Adina binti Othman, Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
Ungku Datin Hajah Fanzah Osman, the General Manager of Hear Better Services Company, the organiser, in her remarks said the charity bazaar is a truly local project .with a long-term mission to equip hearing impaired children with hearing aids so they will have a better chance towards having an independent and productive life and become citizens who will be able to contribute to the nation's development.
"Communication skill is vital for learning and developing other life skills. With hearing aids, not only do the children learn to hear but they will learn to speak and socialise in a normal setting. A child's first word is always the most early awaited by his/ her parents," she stated.
The General Manager of Hear Better Services Company also revealed that the Association of the Hearing Impaired of Brunei Darussalam also participated in the bazaar to help raise awareness.
She commended the association's effort by stating that their enthusiasm and dedication toward educating the public is much needed to create a tolerant and more inclusive society.
Over 30. vendors are taking part in the charity bazaar including Sena Motors displaying the latest Hyundai vehicles, Concepts Computers with the latest IT products, Takaful Insurance, homeware, clothing, carpets, food and others.
