CARAT 2012 Exercise Comes To A Close

Bandar Seri Begawan - A bilateral exercise was organised yesterday by the Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF) involving Company C, Third Batallion of the RBLF and the United States Marine Corps (USMC) in conjunction with the Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) 2012 exercise.

Army personnel from both sides were given a special exercise - for procedures in dealing with the enemy in a building - that was given by members of the USMC.

The training started from Sections and then Platoons and lastly Company level.The training exercises began on November 4 and run till November 14.

The purposes of this training were to strengthen collaboration, increase understanding, knowledge and combined professionalism cooperation, as well as to strengthen bilateral ties.

The concept of this training was focussed on students and on learning the Method of Urban Training (MOUT).

The 10-day training course includes one day of theoretical training and up to seven days of practical training.

The practical training was conducted at the FIBUA Complex, Penanjong Garrison.

A total of 71 members of the USMC were involved in implementing the joint training with the RBLF. Throughout the training, USMC personnel were stationed at Camp Penanjong.

During placement, they had the opportunity to make friends with the RBLF personnel involved and also had the opportunity to visit places of interest in Brunei Darussalam.

The closing ceremony of the exercise was held yesterday, at FIBUA Complex in Penanjong Garrison. Present to witness the demonstration was Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Hj Yussof bin Hj Abd Rahman, Commander of the RBLF.

The RBLF demonstration displayed a new technique that it can be proud of Overall, RBLF members comprehended all aspects of the exercise and were able to implement the new techniques with great confidence, under the professional guidance of the USMC.
