Canadian Charged With Assaulting Wife, Daughters Pleads Guilty

  • PDF

Bandar Seri Begawan - A Canadian man yesterday pleaded guilty to a charge of abusing his wife and is fixed for sentencing tomorrow by the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court.

Arnold Frederick Tauber was arguing with his wife on their financial problems on September 16, 2012.

Tauber came home drunk and woke his wife by kicking the bedroom door, and an argument ensued from then on.

Tauber first took their pet guinea pig and threatened to kill it, which the children were made aware of, and somehow, the argument continued until all of them were outside the house.

After some time, the situation calmed down and everyone went back to their bedrooms.

When the defendant returned to his bedroom, upon seeing his wife resting, he approached her and pushed her against the wall and dropped her onto the bed, which resulted in the wife suffering injuries to her forehead and was bleeding profusely.

Again, the two daughters overheard the scuffle and rushed to the master bedroom, which then led to a scuffle between the defendant and his two daughters.

The daughters then attended to their mother upon seeing her bleeding profusely and called the police for help.

The defendant, scared, took his car keys and belongings and fled to a friend's house.

Before the ambulance and police arrived at the scene, the daughters approached their neighbours for help, and the victim was brought to the RIPAS Hospital.
