Bandar Seri Begawan - In ensuring that all businesses abide by the order to cease operation during Friday prayers, the Brunei-Muara District Office yesterday took further steps by distributing notification letters to several business premises.
The move was made as part of initiatives to remind all business operators regarding the closure order.
The order, which took effect following a titah delivered by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on the eve of Hari Raya Aidiladha, called for all shops and business operations in the country to remain closed for two hours - from 12pm till 2pm - as a show of respect to the Friday prayers.
Brunei-Muara District Officer Awg Hj Jamain bin Hj Momin and officers from the Brunei-Muara District Office assisted in the notification letter distribution yesterday at several business premises, including those in the commercial areas of Lambak Kanan.
Speaking to the Bulletin, Awg Hj Jamain said the step was taken to ensure all business operators nationwide abide by the order.
"For those who do not comply with the order, serious actions will be taken, such as the issuance of a warning letter and the immediate withdrawal of their business licences," he said.
