Brunei To Work For China-ASEAN Strategic Partnership

Bandar Seri Begawan - Brunei, as the chair of ASEAN this year, will actively push the strategic cooperative partnership between China and ASEAN for mutual benefits and win-win results.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II, Yang Berhormal Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Selig, said this during talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi when he recently went to China 1br an official visit to the country at the invitation of Jiechi.

In the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, during the talks with Yang, YB Pehin Dato Lim Jock Seng said that the friendship between the two peoples enjoys a long history.

In recent years, China-Brunei relations have been growing well.

The cooperation in economy, trade, culture and other fields is moving forward steadily. Brunei was satisfied with such progress.

Brunei attaches great importance to developing friendly and cooperative relations with China.

Yang said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 20 years ago, China-Brunei relations have maintained smooth development. China is ready to work together with Brunei to strengthen pragmatic cooperation in such fields as trade, energy, culture, and education and constantly upgrade the level of China-Brunei friendship and cooperation.

With respect to China-ASEAN relations, Yang said that China attaches great importance to the friendly relations and cooperation with ASEAN.

China is willing to work with ASEAN to push China-ASEAN relations for greater development and contribute to regional peace, stability and development.

The Chinese side will support Brunei to host the series of East Asian leaders' meetings and other important events.
