Bandar Seri Begawan - A delegation from the Brunei-Singapore Student Leaders Adventure Camp 2012 recently visited the Berakas Forest Reserve. The delegation was led by Hjh Ainah binti Hj Ibrahim, Head of International Unit, Department of Schools.
The visit was part of the programme to conserve the natural environment and to preserve the biodiversity of the country. The delegation was welcomed upon arrival by officers from the Forestry Department. The group of visitors was briefed on the history and facilities available at the forest reserve.
The visitors then were brought for a walk through the jungle with the assistance of the Forestry Officers to look at the various types of tree species that are found at the reserve. The Berakas Forest Reserve was opened to the public in 1994 and covers an area of about 348 hectares.
