Bandar Seri Begawan - A total of 45 village consultative councils in the Brunei-Muara District will participate in the Excellent Village Awards for Village Consultative Councils (VCC) of Brunei Darussalam 2012/2013. The participants are currently undergoing judging and assessments which are being carried out by the Brunei-Muara District Office.
According to the press release from the project, the Excellent Village Awards for Village Consultative Councils was introduced to encourage Village Consultative Councils to be active in villages and mukims through the leadership of Penghulu Mukims and village heads.
It is an incentive scheme designed to instil the attitude of self-sufficiency among the community of Mukims and villages.
Among the objectives are to be a catalyst towards development, progress and excellence of mukim and villages as well as to generate economic projects and activities in realising "one village, one product" initiative.
The criteria for assessment are based on the management and administration, economic, educational, religious, welfare and community, sport and culture, cheerfulness as well as cleanliness and beauty.
Prior to the assessment, a briefing was delivered by the chairperson of Village Consultative Council with other members on October 8 and 9.
The Brunei-Muara District Office is currently assessing the VCC until November 22.
