Brunei Council On Social Welfare Elects New President

Bandar Seri Begawan - The 2012/2014 Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the Council for Social Welfare of Brunei Darussalam (MKM) took place on Sunday November 11 at 2.30pm at the Youth Centre in the capital. It was attended by 48 members.

The meeting began with the recitation of the Surah Al-Fatihah and was continued with welcoming remarks by the President of MKM 2009/2012 Puan Hjh Mordiah Hj Jackia. It was followed, with a report from the Deputy Secretary of MKM, Nur Judy Abdullah.

A voting ballot took place in which Datin Paduka Hjh Intan Hj Kassim was elected the new president to lead the council to greater heights. She took over the leadership from Hjh Mordiah Hj jackia.

The post of the Vice President 1 will be held by Nur Judy Abdullah, while Hjh Siti Zaleha Hj Kaprawi and Hj Hasbollah Hj Damit will be Vice President 2 and Vice President 3, respectively.

The AGM also elected Hamidah Lakem as Honourable Secretary, Bolhassan Hj Abu Bakar as Secretary 1, Margaret Wong as Secretary 2 and Syarifah Safinatul Najah Malai Hj Abdul Hamid as Secretary 3. Hjh Sarbiah Hj Md Yassin was elected as Treasurer and Hjh Dasimah Hj Damit as Deputy Treasurer. Fifteen committee members were also elected during the AGM.

MKM was registered under the Registrar of Societies on December 2, 2009.

The first Congress was held on March 12, 2010.
