Bandar Seri Begawan - In view of the recent unsuccessful attempts of tampering and skimming of ATMs involving some major banks, the Brunei Association of Banks (BAB) issued a press release yesterday reassuring the public that the security of customers' accounts and other related cards is the banks' utmost priority.
The BAB has acknowledged such an incident and confirmed that the safety of all ATM locations has been cleared of any tampering activity. Urgent precautionary measures have been enforced by the respective banks, such as blocking all cards that may have been compromised and reissuing customers with new cards. Members of the BAB have also stepped up their security actions and will continuously perform routine checks at all ATM locations.
The BAB reminded the public to be vigilant when using any ATM or cash deposit machine. If anyone comes across any suspicious devices affixed on the machines, they should immediately notify their respective banks and refrain from proceeding with their transaction.
The BAB and its member banks reassured the public that they would do their utmost to ensure customers' accounts are secured and that none of their information has been compromised.
