Body Of Missing Husband Found

Bandar Seri Begawan - The body of a missing husband who went on a fishing trip on Tuesday was found at 7.36am yesterday, 500 metres away from the old ferry docking site, the police said yesterday.

Awg Hj Nasir bin Abd Manap, 56, a JKR driver at the Mumong Water Treatment Plant, went on a fishing trip with his 47-year-old wife, Dyg Wartining Sih, on Tuesday morning.

His body was found by a vessel sailor who happened to pass by the area, 15 hours after the body of his wife was found.

The vessel sailor then alerted the police and army personnel. The body was sent to the hospital for post mortem examination. The police said there was no foul play involved.

The body of Dyg Watining was found near Ujung Tanjong at 4pm on Wednesday.

The couple went on a fishing trip Tuesday morning and was last seen at the riverside near the old longhouse along the Belait River.

When they did not return by 10.30pm on Tuesday, family members alerted Search and Rescue personnel.

According to Wan Julaini bin Wan Ibrahim Assistant Superintendent of the Fire and Rescue Department and a Public Relations, Prevention and Fire ,Inspection Officer of Operation 'B', they received a report from the police around midnight on Tuesday.

Search and rescue operations commenced at 4.30am Wednesday and continued until both of the bodies were found yesterday morning.

The search party comprised the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) Marine Police diving unit and personnel from the Belait Police Station, theBelait Fire Station and diving unit and the Belait Public Works Department (PWD).
