Bandar Seri Begawan - Rumours spread through a mobile application that there was a big fight happening in the capital were dismissed as a hoax.

The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) said chain messages spread through WhatsApp asking people not to go anywhere near the capital as there was a big fight going on were false and unsubstantiated.

In this respect, the public has been advised not to believe in such false information and not to panic as Bandar Seri Begawan and its surrounding areas are normal and safe.

People who receive such false information have been advised not to spread the text to others.

The Royal Brunei Police Force also warned that spreading of news or information that are incorrect or unfounded that could threaten public order is a criminal offence which is punishable under the laws of the nation.
