Bandar Seri Begawan - Two hundred high-powered motorcycle riders from the Dantssalam Motorcycle Association (PEMODA) and Harley Owners Group Brunei Chapter (HOGB) rode off in a convoy after the -"Konvoi Kenali Negara Kitani 2013" (KKNK 2013) was flagged off yesterday at Dermaga Diraja Bandar Seri Begawan.
The guest of honour who officiated the flag-off was Datin Paduka Hajah Adina binti Othman, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
Supported by the 'Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, this is the first time for the PEMODA and HOGB to ride in a convoy from February 15 to 17 in conjunction with the 29th National Day of Brunei Darussalam.
Datin Paduka Hajah Adina said the motorcycle riders associations have always showed their support for Brunei Darussalam's National Day events and the convoy is their way of showing their support by visiting different villages in the four districts.
"To increase your patriotism, you should first get to know your country So by doing the convoy, the motorcycle associations will also be able to get to know Brunei and increase their love and support for Brunei so I think this is a great show of patriotism and support for their country" said the Deputy Minister.
A welcoming speech was also delivered by the Co-Chairperson of the KKNK 2013, Pengiran Haji Redzuan bin Pengiran Haji Ahmad of PEMODA. A memento and a souvenir were presented to the guest of honour.
The event aims to commemorate the upcoming 29th National Day of Brunei Darussalam and to instil the spirit of patriotism and love for the country as well as to promote tourism and market the beauty of the Sultanate to local and foreign participants joining the KKNK 2013 event.
