Bandar Seri Begawan - Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives will be conducting a road show at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) today as part of its awareness initiative.
The road show will be held at the auditorium of Institute of Leadership, Innovation and Advancement (ILIA) at UBD at 9.30am. As part of the road show BIBD's Head of Corporate Social Responsibility Hjh Nurul Akmar bte Hj Mohd Jaafar will be giving a talk to UBD students on BIBD's upcoming charity initiative, Charity Expedition for ALAF or CE ALAF, a press release stated.
During the road show, BIBD will be distributing donation cards to those who have already registered for the charity expedition. Interested participants who have not yet registered are welcome to drop by at the road show to register and collect their donation cards.
The closing date for registration is September 15, 2012. Additionally, registration can be done online at www.bibd.com.bn and www.bibdcharityexpedition.com.
For convenience, physical registration forms can also be obtained at selected branches - Main Branch, Kiulap Branch, Manggis Branch, Temburong Branch, Tutong Branch and Kuala Belait Branch. Physical registration forms are limited and are only available on a first-come first-serve basis. It is also important to note that photocopied or scanned copies of the registration forms will not be accepted.
Upon registration, participants will be given donation cards to encourage members of the public to contribute to this charity drive. Donation cards can be collected at Main Branch, Kiulap Branch, Manggis Branch, Temburong Branch, Tutong Branch and Kuala Belait Branch from now until September 30.
Registration will close September 15 and BIBD would like to remind online registrants to collect their donation cards before September 30.
Carrying the tagline "One Step, One Pedal, One Education", the charity drive aims to help underprivileged students in their educational progression through a systematic sponsorship scheme under the BIBD ALAF programme. ALAF stands for Advocating Life-Long Learning for an Aspiring Future.
Charity Expedition for ALAF will be held on October 14, 2012 at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium. It will feature five different categories - 2.5km Fun Run, 5km Run, 10km Run, 21km Half Marathon and a 53km Cycling Expedition. Registration fees are $10, $15, $35 and $40 for the 2.5km, 5km, 10km and 21km run respectively. Registration fee for the Cycling Expedition is $25.
The 10km Run and the 21km Half-Marathon are competitive races where runners can win marathon packages to Melbourne, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu.
First, second and third prize winners will also receive exclusive winners T-Shirts together with medals. Participants in the 10 and 21km categories will also be receiving finishers medals upon completing the race within a set time. CE-ALAF hopes to promote a healthy lifestyle as well as to encourage public awareness through fitness.
