Belait District Office, Mukim Penghulus & Village Heads Visit ACB

Kuala Belait - A fifty-member group consisting of officers and staff of the Belait District Office as well as Mukim Penghulus and village heads recently visited the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Belait Branch. The visit was divided into two sessions: the officers and staff of Belait District Office in the morning and the Penghulus and village heads in the afternoon.

The District Office entourage was led by Hj Aziman bin Tengah, Special Duties Officer at the Belait District Office.

The visitors in both sessions were given a talk on the "Roles of the Anti-Corruption Bureau in Fighting Against Corruption" by the Head of the ACB, Belait Branch, Pg Emran bin Pg Hj Matarsad who is also the Chief Special Investigator.

The main objective of the visit was to educate the officers and community leaders on offences prosecuted under the Anti-Corruption Bureau. At the same time, it aimed to raise awareness among the visitors on the dangers and negative impacts of corruption.

Pg Emran in an interview with the Borneo Bulletin said that "corruption is like an illness that can wreak havoc in the society, just like how cancer would kill a human being".
