Temburong - The Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) yesterday extended its Village Enterprise Financing Scheme with the delivery of new machinery and equipment to boost the production of a noodle-making business in Kg Senukoh, Temburong.
A ceremony to hand over the machinery and equipment was held yesterday at the Balai Raya of Kg Senukoh.
Making the presentation yesterday was Helmi Omar, the Project Director of UEM Builders, who contributed the machinery as part of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
The event's guest of honour was Acting Temburong District Officer Awg Suhara Fadzali bin Hj Yusop. Meanwhile, in his remarks, Sheikh Rashid Salam, the BEDB's Assistant CEO responsible for the Local Enterprise Development, said that several village products have been identified as having the potential to be developed further.
The BEDB is working closely with the Ministry of Home Affairs to identify suitable products that can be supported under the Village Enterprise Financing Scheme.
Apart from the domestic market, he hoped that the increased production capacity will enable the entrepreneurs to export their products regionally in the future.
To date, the BEDB's Village Enterprise Financing Scheme has benefitted three other villages in Mukim, Tanjong Maya and Mukim Ukong in the Tutong District.
