Ho Chi Min City, Vietnam - The Brunei Darussalam Amateur Radio Association (BDARA) recently took part in the 15th International Amateur Radio Union Region 3 (IARU Rg 3) in Ho Chi Min City, Vietnam.

Represented by Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman bin Pengiran Haji Damit along with four other BDARA members, Brunei's participation this year marks a very first following an invitation to take part in the meeting.

Among other matters discussed during the gathering included a three-year activities report from Amateur Radio Association members, new agendas derived from the International Telecommunication Union as well as the World Radio Conference in Geneva, the future of IARU, Emergency Communications and so on.

Whilst in Vietnam, the delegates were also given the opportunity to visit a number of historical places in the Asean-member country.

The IARU Rg 3, which will meet again in 20I5, was established in April 1947 and has been placed under the wings of the United Nations and protected by the IARU under the International Telecommunication Union based in Geneva. The members meet once every three years.

The BDARA, meanwhile, will take part in the upcoming 40th Seanet Convention iri Kuala Lumpur from November 23 to November 25 in neighbouring Malaysia and will also attend the Borneo Field Day in Bandar Kuching, Malaysia next month.
