Bandar Seri Begawan - Bersatu Bikers Club (BBC) yesterday celebrated its 5th year anniversary. Since its establishment in .2008, BBC has swelled with members and has attended numerous events organised by government agencies as well as other associations abroad.
Yesterday's event was also a celebration where BBC has officially journeyed through all the states in Sabah and Sarawak.
BBC President Zaini Hj Pudin explained that the accomplishment was a long time coming, and although it took sometime for the association to complete its journey in Sabah and Sarawak it was still an accomplishment to be proud of.
In his speech, BBC President highlighted safety issues amongst bikers in general.
He stated that all riders must at all times follow the rules and regulations when on the road and be doubly aware of their surroundings especially when using a motorbike.
He said that there are numerous cases where motorbike accidents occured because of other road users, it does not mean that riders should be complacent.
Bikes are much smaller than cars and are not always visible' to other motorists, therefore we as bikers must always keep safety in mind, and that it should be the number one priority when riding.
Therefore he stated that not only bikers must be vigilant when on the road but also other road users.
He noted that we all share the road and that safety is everyone's responsibility.
Bikers must all be aware of other road users and be mindful and reminded road users to keep the statistics of road accidents low.
He reminded BBC members to be safe and to be always cautious when riding, in particular using the proper safety gear when riding.
The president also took the opportunity to thank the staunch support of its members in all the activities organised by the association.
"Without the members support, the association is nothing. Thankfully the strong support of the members has not only made it possible for the association to fulfil its various missions and visions but had also made the association strong," he said.
By organising regular family events for BBC, the association was able to strengthen its foundations and on the whole strengthen the bonds of family and friendship amongst its members.
During the anniversary members who had attended the first aid workshop were presented first aid badges to commemorate their completion of the basic first aid course, and a special memento was presented to Pg Suliman Pg Hj Sham Suddin (2010-2012 BBC working committee) who had tirelessly forged bonds between BBC and government agencies as well as nonprofit organisations, in order to bolster BBC's support for these entities and vice versa.
