Barriers In Place To Study Accident-Prone Junction In Beribi

  • PDF

Bandar Seri Begawan - With the roads leading to Beribi Industrial Estate in Beribi commonly known as one of the most congested areas during peak hours, red and white barriers have been strategically positioned in the area with due effect.

The reason behind the barriers being positioned in two areas, which block off motorists from entering and leaving the junction from both ends of the roads just opposite the numerous car dealerships, was a directive by the Road Safety Council in the wake of frequent accidents.

The initiative by the Road Safety Council is to monitor and analyse the traffic situation as well as gather information on whether the directive can bring improvement in the area and significantly reduce the number of road accidents.

Following recent road mishaps, the area has been deemed potentially dangerous and risky for road users. Motorists travelling from both mini-roundabouts have to resort to other alternatives to enter the industrial area or vice versa.

Whether the barriers would be a permanent fixture or not, it has yet to be decided.
