Bandar Seri Begawan - Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) announced the launch of its latest mobile banking service - BIBD Mobile - for their valued customers to bank on the go, whenever and wherever.
BIBD Mobile is the first mobile banking platform in Brunei to give customers access to a number of transactions and services through smartphones and tablets.
This adds onto BIBD's already extensive self-service capabilities and product ranges.
Local media representatives were invited to 'try' the different features of BIBD Mobile yesterday afternoon to enable members of the public to understand the services.
Present as panellists during the press conference were the Managing Director of BIBD, Javed Ahmad, the CEO of BIBD, Gyorgy Ladics, and the Deputy Head of the Consumer Banking Division, Hjh Nurul Akmar bte Hj Mohd Jaafar.
"Basically, what we are trying to achieve is make banking services available to everyone's mobile devices by bringing banking conveniences to the palm of one's hand," said Javed Ahmad.
As from now, the current features of the service include an enquiry on all types of account balances, view accounts and credit card transactions' history, simplified bill payments to all major billers in Brunei, ease of paying credit card bills and money transfers to a bank in the Sultanate or abroad with a few simple taps.
To provide further convenience, top-up services have also been made available, where BIBD customers can top up any DST Easi prepaid mobile or purchase Electric Service top-ups round the clock.
BIBD is constantly innovating and BIBD Mobile will soon be available as a downloadable application in both Apple and Android markets.
"More features are in the pipelines and will be added in the BIBD Mobile service in the upcoming months," said Javed Ahmad, before adding, "We are considering adding a language setting (Malay and Chinese). This will provide a richer experience for all our customers."
To provide further convenience, existing BIBD online customers can use their existing ID to access BIBD mobile, where no registration is required, and for those customers who do not have BIBD online, they could register for BIBD mobile without visiting the branch.
Meanwhile, to ensure online security, customers are required to enter either a 'Mobile Password' or 'Hardware Token' to be able to access the BIBD mobile after entering the standard User ID and Internet PIN.
The Mobile Password is a second-level alphanumeric password required to access BIBD Mobile. Customers are required to enter various components or characters, which will be changed randomly, for second level verification.
As an added security, BIBD Mobile will log out automatically after two minutes of inactivity. Customers are required to log in once again by entering the security password before accessing the service.
BIBD has also launched the self-service terminal or 'online kiosk' to better serve customers. These 'online kiosks' are being installed in BIBD's branches progressively.
"It is hoped that these efforts will transform the quality of service BIBD can offer its customers and public in general, making BIBD the 'Bank of Choice' for Bruneians. Through these enhancements, it is BIBD's aspiration and goal to give its customers the best products and service experiences," said Javed Ahmad.
Access BIBD mobile today by simply launching your mobile's Internet browser and going to www.bibd.com.bn/m and be automatically redirected to the mobile site.
