Bandar Seri Begawan - The Municipal Department, Bandar Seri Begawan will be organising a Larian Bandaran 2012 or Bandaran Run 2012 on November 25 at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddin in the capital to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the renaming of Bandar Brunei to Bandar Seri Begawan.
Details of the Bandaran Run 2012 were revealed yesterday by Pg Hj Abd Rahman bin Pengiran Seri Indera Pg Hj Ismail, the Chairman of the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Board.
Due to the aspect of safety, the Bandaran Run is only open to a limit of 5,000 participants and the categories contested are 21km, 10km and 5km for men's and women's events, as well as a 2.5km fun run.
The registration fee for the categories are B$40 for 21km, $30 for 10km, $20 for 5km and $15 for 2.5km.
Each participant will get a free 'Larian Bandaran' shirt, as well as a medal after completing the race.
There are various attractive cash prizes awaiting the winners of each category, whereby the first prize for the 21km event will be B$1,500, $1,000 for the 10km winners and $500 for the 5km winners. Other prizes include lucky draw prizes such as iPhone 5, MacBook Pro, 42-inch flatscreen, air ticket to Singapore and others.
The registration is open to everyone in the country including foreigners overseas.
The aim of the Bandaran Run, according to Pg Hj Abdul Rahman, is not only to commemorate the 40th anniversary renaming of Bandar Brunei to Bandar Seri Begawan, but to also enliven the atmosphere around Bandar as well as to support the aspiration for a healthy Brunei. The registration forms can be obtained at the counters of the Municipal Department, BSB, as well as Cityneon Display and Construction Sdn Bhd.
