Attachment Students Receive Certificates

Bandar Seri Begawan - Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bhd (BMC) held a certificate presentation ceremony yesterday for their attachment students from Jefri Bolkiah Engineering College.

The 11 students had just completed a six-month attachment programme with BMC, and yesterday's ceremony, held at the Sungai Liang Industrial Park (SPARK), saw them awarded with certificates to mark the successful completion of their course.

Hj Md Jamil bin Hj Mohd Salleh, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of BMC was on hand to present the certificates to the students, who were visibly happy to receive them.

Addressing these attachment students at the event, Hj Md Jamil said, "All of you should be very, very proud of yourselves for accomplishing this goal."
"Your perseverance and commitment have had a positive impact on you and also us," he continued. "All of you worked hard, spending four to six months learning new skill sets with us."

He noted that prior to graduation, students are required to undergo an attachment programme and described this as being "one of those steps in life that defines a coming of age - the ending of one era of life, as a student or the one being shown the ropes, and moving on to a new stage in which you are a leader, a doer and an achiever in the wider world".

As part of BMC's corporate social responsibility commitment and effort to support technical education in Brunei, Hj Md Jamil expressed BMC's hope to work together again next year with other technical colleges in the country and in turn continue to support Brunei's local workforce capability programme.

Lastly, the Deputy CEO told the attachment students, "You are now armed with one of the most important tools needed to forge your path ahead. It's not the diploma itself that counts - it's about what you've learnt along the way and what you do with the education you've gotten on your journey to certification achievement today"

"Your future is in your hands - no one else's," he added.

The ceremony itself also saw the students give group presentations on what they had learnt over the course of their attachment with BMC, one of which dealt with the technical areas, including those of mechanical, electrical, instruments and operations, as well as another that was more admin-focused and dealt with-IT.
