Bandar Seri Begawan - The Fifth Singapore Food Festival is back at The Airport Restaurant.
The popular festival bringing in Singaporean delicacies was launched yesterday and will run until March 11.
Present to officiate the ceremony was the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Awang Haji Mohd Rozan bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos. Also present yesterday was the High Commissioner of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam, Mr Joseph Koh.
For the promotion, Royal Brunei Catering (RBC) had flown in Singaporean Chef Bob or popularly known for his TV series as 'Chef Skuter'.
During the promotion, Chef Skuter will be cooking his authentic Singapore-specialty cuisine including the popular Singapore Ponggol Chilli Crab, Nyonya Popiah, Singapore Chicken Rice, Singapore Mee Rebus, Mee Siam ala Singapore, Ayam Pongteh, Itek Sioh, Grilled Beef Cincaluk, Rojak Geylang and many more.
RBC General Manager, Haji Omar Ali bin Haji Mohd Daud, conveyed his gratitude to the High Commissioner of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam for his great support to the promotion.
He also thanked the RBC promotion partners for their support to the food promotion including Singapore Tourism Board, Singapore Airlines, Grand Hyatt Singapore, Baiduri Bank, Sedap Corner and Fish & Co.
"Looking back at the festivals over the last four years, I must say that it has been an experience which is gastronomically satisfying but intellectually challenging," said the Singapore High Commissioner.
He added that the Singaporean food has always continued to innovate and create its own fusions that have transcended its own cultural barriers with dishes from Satay Beehon to Mee Bandung, now there are new creations such as Butter Crab, Lobster Laksa, Linguini Tandoor, Laksa Pasta and Crab Beehon Pasta.
"Because we have such a great appetite for good food, Singaporeans always try to outdo one another for being more knowledgeable about eating places. It has become part of our favourite national pastime.
"When it comes to following food recommendation, our basic motto is 'Belum Cuba, Belum Tahu' and when it comes to food, Singaporeans are the only people in the world who will say, 'die die must try'."
Patrons who dine-in during the two-week promotional period at The Airport Restaurant, will stand a chance to win two return air tickets to Singapore contributed by Singapore Airlines with complimentary accommodation of three days and two nights at the Grand Hyatt.
Baiduri cardholders will receive exclusive discounts at 15 per cent for Infinite & Platinum with additional 10 per cent discounts upon presenting RBC Dining Privilege Card, 10 per cent discounts for RBA Amex Card and five per cent for Gold, Classic and Debit Card.
Chef Skuter will be also be conducting cooking classes for invited Baiduri cardholders.
The daily promotion buffet lunch is priced at $19.90 per adult and $10.00 per child, which is from 12noon to 2pm. The buffet dinner is priced at $29.90 per adult and $15.00 per child served from 7pm until 10pm.
